Role of General Administration Branch
- Preparation and regulation of duty lists of officers and staff of the zonal office and other related educational institutions.
- Maintaining the personal files of the staff of the Zonal Education office and all officers of the all Island services and the non – academic staff of the National and provincial school belonging to the zonal education office. (Salary increment, Foreign leave, service extension, Retirement Files, Approving Loans, Recommending for Promotion, duty leave, maternity leave, sick leave, approving annual salary increment, confirmation of service, transfers disciplinary actions)
- Arrangements of matters related to the leaves of the staff of the zonal education office, payment of over time, daily work, holiday pay settlement of bills, issuing railway warrants of the staff.
- Making relevant recommendations and approvals for Advance loans, Agrahara Insurance.
- Dealing with the transfers and release of non- academic staff working in the education zone.
- Organizing and implementing staff training programmes.
- Maintenance and development of office physical resources.
- Providing water, electricity and telephone facilities and carrying out all the maintenance work of other institutions related to schools in the division and zone.
- Carrying out activities related to the control of government quarters and vehicles.
- Managing petty cash.
- Handling daily mail.
- Activities related to maintaining archives.
- Carrying out activities related to Reception counter implementation of internal communication and implementation of productivity concepts.
- Internal supervision of the affairs related to the establishment and administration department of the institution.
- Conducting payment activities in school
- File maintenance and approval of all officers whose personal files are maintained under the zonal office related to loan matters and property loans.
- Performance of duty related to freedom of information act.
- Payments related to free train warrants in school run under the zonal education office.
- Carrying out all activities related to providing free train season tickets of all officers belonging to the zone.
- Carrying out all activities related to the cleanliness of the office premises, hygiene and dengue control.
