School Administration branch of the zonal education office performs several duties with the aim of producing a healthy and productive younger generation with positive attitudes.Student enrollments to schools, organizing and conducting national level examinations, provides guidance and instructions for the administrative related school activities, performing the duties related to school nutrition programme, distribution of school uniforms and text books, activities related to the scholarship/bursary programme and school land related all the activities are Among the main tasks performed by the branch.
The branch extends its duties and responsibilities to a greater spectrum with granting approval for the special projects trips to be conducted in the schools, granting approval for educational trips and retain the discipline of the students through inquiries maintaining the physical and mental well-being of the students. This branch functions with the ultimate objective of providing a productive service to its beneficiaries in a friendly manner.


Role of School Administration Branch
- Activities related to temporary allocation of school physical resources for public needs.
- Making recommendations regarding the acquisition and settlement of school land etc.
- Acting as a member of the school structure committee
- Dealing with student enrolments, transfers and dropouts and students disciplinary matters
- Work on bursary, scholarships and foreign scholarship.
- Activities related to Student Nutrition Projects
- Arrangements for providing school uniforms, text books and learning equipments.
- Coordination of public examinations
- Activities related to school development society, student societies and other societies
- Approval of facility and service charges of all provincial schools
- Time table
- Various projects / Camps in school, etc
- Activities related to School security.
- Activities related to special days, anniversary celebrations, flag days.

- Compilation and evaluation of appropriate programs for the quality development of student leadership activities.
- Conducting and investigating disciplinary matters.
- Activities related to school canteens.
- Activities on Dengue control and health development.
- Provide recommendations and approvals related to obtaining temporary services in school.
- Permission to withdraw students.
- (Giving recommendations to students for going abroad.) Provide approval for the students to leave the country.
- Organizing disaster management activities.
- Marinate student Information system including SIS.
- Permitt activities for educational trips and field trips.
