Education Development

All the work relevant to the school curriculum is under the development branch. Improvement of subjects and necessary interventions are made according to the performance level of the students. Conducting School term evaluation, analyzing results, teacher development and conducting subject related competitions are the main responsible areas of this branch.

Role of Education Development Branch

  • Responsibility and accountability for the proper implementation of educational policies and prescribed curriculum.
  • Making proposals for the preparation of annual – midterm, five year plans in relation to the education sector development approach framework and programmes.
  • Review and regulate the progress of implementation of approved plans.
  • Guidance for organization of co- curricular activities in school.
  • Introduction and implementation of curriculum reforms.
  • Reviewing the performance of subject directors and In Service – Advisors. 
  • Implementation of special development programmes from time to time, analysis of student achievement levels, taking necessary steps to improve the quality of education based on the facts revealed thereby.
  • Organize and implement measures for capacity development of teaching staff.
  • Evaluation and regulation of counseling for the future development of divisional education offices and other educational institutions and organizing and conducting subject competitions at the zonal level.
  • Implementation of external evaluation programmes in schools, preparing quality index and identifying development needs and dealing with them accordingly.
  • Regulation of school internal evaluation and necessary guidance. 
  • Conducting internal evaluation of Education Development Branch, reporting feedback.
  • Directing and implementing non – formal education activities.
  • Implementation of a principal and teacher evaluation programme.
  • Conducting educational research and preparing and implementing project proposals based on findings.
